Spring Singlehand Racers,
Congratulations on competing on a perfect day of sailing in Commencement Bay! Not a drop of rain until a light shower started on the last leg. Wind stayed in the 8 to 12 knot range, a little lighter around the mark set for the Lunch crowd at the Ram.
RC had a little challenge setting the mark at Dash Point and the first two boats around had to turn the mark still attached to "Romeo Charlie". Race Committee continued to have fun after the race when pulling the mark at dash point in a 15 knot torrential downpour.
From 2012 to 2013 Glenn Cowling on Something Special has not lost any boat-speed as he sailed by the RC boat cleaning off our swim-step with a good washing. Glenn then went on to take line-honors and a 1st place in PHRF. The three boat PHRF fleet had a corrected difference of 7 minutes 32 seconds.
Ole Madsen made the morning trip over from Gig Harbor and it paid off. On the last leg the big Beneteau legged out a first in Windseekers A over Don Kimball's Anomaly by 1 minute 7 seconds. In Windseekers A the difference between 1st & 4th was 6 minutes 42 seconds.
Windseekers B went to Pat Robinson aboard his beautiful Ranger 32 Dulcinea. Pat deserves a medal for pre-start effort. When I took Romeo Charlie out into the bay at 0800 to see what there was to see, what to see was Pat sailing around, Main & Genoa up. After setting two of the race marks, rolling back to the dock to run the skippers meeting and then back-out on the water there was Pat still sailing.
Philly Bird took honors in Windseekers C starting and Horned on Course.
